One year ago, we had the honor of opening FormAlloy’s Application Development Center in San Diego alongside Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, the U.S. Navy, community leaders, and our incredible team. It was a proud moment that symbolized not just growth for our company, but a firm step toward reshaping the future of manufacturing in the U.S.
Over the past year, this facility has become more than just a building—it’s become a hub of innovation, collaboration, and progress. The Application Development Center was established to serve as a bridge between advanced Directed Energy Deposition (DED) technology and the industries that need it most: defense, aerospace, energy, and beyond. In just twelve months, we’ve proven that mission successful.
We’ve welcomed partners from across the Department of Defense, industry, and academia into the space to explore how additive manufacturing can solve real-world challenges—from repairing aircraft components to developing next-generation materials. We’ve demonstrated our ability to automate complex repair workflows, build functionally graded parts, and deliver solutions that reduce cost and lead time while enhancing performance.
The impact of this center has also been deeply personal. It’s allowed our team to push boundaries, grow our capabilities, and demonstrate the power of American manufacturing ingenuity. It’s reaffirmed why we do what we do—and why it matters.
As we look ahead, our vision remains clear: to enable sustainable, on-demand manufacturing with the highest levels of precision, automation, and reliability. The Application Development Center is just the beginning.
Thank you to Congresswoman Sara Jacobs and her staff for championing innovation in our region, and to our team, partners, and community for believing in the work we’re doing.
Here’s to what we’ve built—and to what we’ll build next.
